A business trip is not just a flight and a hotel. It is a non-refundable conference fee, a prepaid client dinner, a booked meeting suite, and a week of work commitments that cannot simply be rescheduled. When something goes wrong, the financial loss can be significant and entirely unrecoverable without the right cover in place.

Allianz Business Travel Insurance is not a different product from our standard travel insurance. It uses the same proven plans, with the same verified coverage amounts, applied to the specific context of travel for work. Whether you are a consultant flying to London, a sales professional visiting clients across Asia, or an engineer attending a site inspection in Europe, the same comprehensive benefits apply.

Two scenarios where business travel insurance pays for itself:

  • A sudden illness forces you to cancel a conference trip 48 hours before departure. Flights, hotel, and registration fees are non-refundable. Trip cancellation cover of up to $3,000 on Standard or $5,000 on Premium recovers those sunk costs.
  • You are hospitalised in a country where medical treatment costs are high. Emergency medical cover of up to $250,000 on Standard or $500,000 on Premium means the hospital bill does not follow you home as personal debt.

Both plans are available as either Single Trip or Annual Multi-Trip policies. Every benefit listed below applies per insured person on the policy.

Business travel insurance is appropriate for any UAE resident travelling internationally for work purposes, whether on a single trip or regularly throughout the year. There is no separate business classification in the policy itself. The same Standard and Premium plans available for leisure travel apply equally to business trips.

One-Off Business Trips

Travelling for a single conference, client meeting, or site visit? A Single-Trip Business Travel Insurance policy covers your exact travel dates at a flat cost, with no annual commitment required.

Frequent Business Trips

Travelling for work more than twice a year? An Annual Multi-Trip policy covers every business trip below 90 days for 12 months under a single premium, removing the need to buy a new policy before each trip.

Teams Travelling Together

Multiple employees travelling on the same dates can be covered under one policy. If members travel at different times, Annual Multi-Trip policy covers everyone even when their travel dates do not overlap.

The single most important decision when buying business travel insurance is choosing between a Single Trip and an Annual Multi-Trip policy. Here is how to decide:

Feature
Single Trip Business Cover
Annual Multi-Trip Business Cover
How many trips covered One trip with defined start and end dates Unlimited trips - each under 90 days for 12 months
Travel dates required at purchase Yes, exact dates needed No, buy once and travel anytime
Multiple employees on one policy Yes, if all share the same travel dates Yes, even if employees travel on different dates
Cost for one trip More economical Higher upfront cost
Cost for three or more trips More expensive (multiple policies) More economical
Schengen visa certificate Issued per trip Issued once for all trips
Best for Occasional business travellers Frequent business travellers - 3+ trips a year

If you travel for work more than twice a year, our Annual Multi-Trip plan consistently works out more economical and removes the task of buying a new policy before every trip.

→ Simply select 'Annual Multi-Trip' from the 'Trip Type' drop-down list in the quote bar above and you'll be able to get a quote - or simply get a quote and you'll see the Annual quote side by side with Standard and Premium tier single trip quotes, making it easy to compare and select.

One of the most common questions from business travellers is whether laptops and electronic work devices are covered under travel insurance. The answer is yes, under the High-Value items benefit.

Laptops, tablets, mobile phones, and other electronic devices fall under the High-Value items category, covered up to $400 per person on the Standard plan and $500 per person on the Premium plan. This limit applies to the total value of all valuables on the policy per person, not per individual item.

Important details to know:

  • The Valuables limit is $400 Standard and $500 Premium per person. It covers all valuables collectively, not each item individually.
  • Items must be reported to the police and a report obtained in the event of theft. Retain all receipts and documentation.
  • Allianz does not offer a separate dedicated business equipment add-on beyond the standard Valuables benefit. If you are travelling with high-value business equipment worth significantly more than the coverage limit, consider whether specialist equipment insurance may be more appropriate for those specific items.

With 125 years of insurance experience and operations in over 70 countries, Allianz Travel provides consistent, verified coverage wherever your work takes you.

Allianz business travel insurance starts from AED 76 for a Single Trip Standard policy and AED 99 for a Single Trip Premium policy. Annual Multi-Trip pricing is calculated based on the same plan tiers. Your exact premium depends on:

  • Your travel destination
  • Trip duration in days - from 1 day up to 90 days
  • Number of travellers and their ages (coverage for travellers up to 85 yrs)
  • Choice of Standard (from AED 76) or Premium (from AED 99) plan

Use the quote tool at the top of this page to get your exact price for either a Single Trip or Annual Multi-Trip policy in under a minute.

Step 1 - Enter Your Trip Details

Select 'Single Round-Trip' or 'Annual Multi-Trip' in the quote tool above. Enter your destinations, your exact travel start and end dates, UAE as your country of residence, number of travellers and respective ages of all travellers. If covering multiple employees on a Single Trip policy, all travellers must share the same travel dates.

Step 2 - Choose Your Plan

Compare our Standard and Premium plans. For business trips to high-cost destinations such as the USA, Switzerland, or Japan, the Premium plan's $500,000 medical cover is recommended. Review the trip cancellation and valuables limits for each plan.

Step 3 - Pay and Receive Your Certificate Instantly

Complete your secure online payment. Your policy document and Schengen-compliant certificate (where applicable) are emailed to you immediately. Coverage is active from your specified travel start date.

General Information

Business trips represent a financial investment that goes beyond just the cost of a flight. Conference fees, prepaid accommodation, and booked meeting facilities are often non-refundable. If something goes wrong, whether you fall ill, your flight is cancelled, or your luggage is delayed, you absorb those losses personally without cover. Allianz Business Travel Insurance protects the financial value of your trip and your personal wellbeing while you are abroad, so an unexpected event does not turn a business trip into a financial setback.

The decision depends on how frequently you travel for work:

  • If you take one or two business trips per year, a Single Trip policy for each journey is the more economical choice.
  • If you travel three or more times a year, an Annual Multi-Trip policy is almost always more cost-effective and eliminates the need to buy a new policy before each trip.
  • For teams where different employees travel at different times, the Annual Multi-Trip policy is also more practical since it does not require all employees to share the same travel dates.

Yes. If your business trip requires a Schengen visa, your Allianz policy certificate qualifies as the required insurance documentation. The certificate is issued immediately upon purchase and meets the mandatory European requirement of at least EUR 30,000 in emergency medical coverage. Both the Standard and Premium plans exceed this minimum requirement.

Coverage

Yes. Emergency medical cover is included in both the Standard and Premium plans. The limits are:

  • Standard plan: up to $250,000 in emergency medical expenses per person
  • Premium plan: up to $500,000 in emergency medical expenses per person

Emergency medical evacuation and repatriation are included within these medical limits. For business trips to destinations with high medical costs, such as the United States or Switzerland, the Premium plan is strongly recommended.

Laptops and other electronic devices are covered under the High-Value items benefit. The limit is $400 per person on the Standard plan and $500 per person on the Premium plan. This limit applies to the total of all valuables per person, not per individual item. There is no separate business equipment add-on on this product. If you are travelling with high-value equipment worth more than the Valuables limit, consider whether specialist equipment insurance may be more appropriate.

Yes. Trip cancellation is included in both plans. Cover applies if you need to cancel before your trip begins because you, a travelling companion, someone you are due to stay with, or a close relative is ill, seriously injured, has had an accident, or has died. The limits are:

  • Standard plan: up to $3,000 per person
  • Premium plan: up to $5,000 per person

Trip curtailment, which covers cutting a trip short mid-journey for the same covered reasons, is also included at the same limits. Always review the full list of covered cancellation reasons in the policy document.

The delayed departure benefit covers you if your departure is delayed by more than 4 hours due to a covered reason. If the delay extends to 24 hours, you may alternatively choose to abandon your journey and claim up to the maximum specified in your policy. The Standard plan covers up to $200 and the Premium plan up to $300. Specific covered reasons are listed in the policy document.

Eligibility

Yes, with conditions that differ depending on the type of policy:

  • For a Single Trip policy, multiple employees can be covered together, but only if they all share exactly the same departure and return travel dates.
  • For an Annual Multi-Trip policy, multiple employees can be covered even if their individual travel dates throughout the year do not overlap. The Annual Multi-Trip option is therefore more flexible for teams where different employees travel at different times.

Your business trip must not exceed 90 days. If your assignment abroad goes beyond 90 days, travel insurance is not the appropriate product for the duration beyond that limit, and you should seek a different type of long-stay cover. For trips up to 90 days, both the Single Trip and Annual Multi-Trip plans cover the full duration you specify.

Allianz Business Travel Insurance provides worldwide coverage, but there are exclusions. Countries currently at war or under active conflict are not covered under the terms and conditions. Before purchasing, review the policy terms and conditions carefully, particularly for any destination where travel advisories or conflict situations may apply. If you have any question about a specific destination, contact Allianz before purchasing so you can confirm the policy is appropriate for your planned trip.
