Travelling with children changes the risk profile of a trip completely. A child running a sudden fever in a foreign hospital, a missed connecting flight that strands the whole family overnight, or a lost suitcase containing a child's medication are all situations no parent wants to face without support. Family travel insurance exists because these scenarios are common, and because handling them with five separate individual policies is slower and more expensive than handling them with one.

Allianz Family Travel Insurance is designed for UAE resident families travelling abroad together for less than 90 days at a time. Instead of insuring each family member separately, you list everyone under one policy at the time of quoting. Every listed member receives the same level of coverage, whether that is the Standard or Premium plan.

Two situations every travelling family should plan for:

  • A child needs emergency medical treatment abroad. Emergency medical expenses are covered up to $250,000 on the Standard plan and $500,000 on the Premium plan, for every insured family member, child or adult.
  • The whole trip needs to be cancelled at short notice. If you, a travelling companion, or a close relative becomes seriously ill, is injured, or passes away before departure, trip cancellation cover of up to $3,000 on Standard or $5,000 on Premium can recover your non refundable costs.

Both plans cover the full family listed on your policy. The Premium plan raises the limits on the benefits used most, including emergency medical expenses, trip cancellation, and baggage protection.

Before you start a quote, it helps to know exactly who is eligible. A family policy from Allianz covers 2 adults plus an unlimited number of children under one policy, with a maximum of 10 travellers in total. Every traveller must be a UAE resident.

Families with Children

Travelling with children under 18 brings its own set of risks, from sudden fevers to lost favourite toys. One family policy covers all members under one policy under a fixed family rate. Protecting your whole family costs less than you would expect.

Multi-Generational Trips

Travelling with parents, in-laws, or extended relatives who fall within the adult age limit? Add up to 10 travellers under a single family policy, provided every adult is under 65 and every traveller is a UAE resident. Covering the family has never been easier.

Frequent Family Travellers

If your family takes three or more trips per year, a single trip family policy may cost more over time than an annual multi trip plan. Compare both options in the quote tool before you commit to either. The annual plan will offer flexibility to family trips.

Important: If a grandparent or relative on your trip is 66 or older, they cannot be added to your family policy. They will need their own Senior Travel Insurance plan, which covers individuals up to 85 years old. Link both quotes together before you travel so the whole travelling party is covered.

How Children Are Covered Under a Family Travel Insurance Policy

Every child added to a family policy receives the same coverage as the adults on the policy, under a fixed family rate. There is no limit on the number of children you can add, which makes this plan particularly cost effective for larger families travelling together.

Family specific benefits included on every plan:

  • Return of dependents under 18 if a parent is hospitalised for more than 24 hours during the trip
  • Emergency family travel, which pays for a close relative to fly out and stay with a hospitalised family member
  • Emergency dental treatment for sudden pain, covered for every listed traveller including children
  • Baggage loss and baggage delay cover, useful when children's essentials such as medication or formula are in checked luggage

Remember that family members cannot be added once the policy is issued. Confirm every traveller, including any children, at the time of getting your quote so nobody is left uncovered.

Not every travelling family fits neatly into one plan type. Here is how the family options compare against the Senior plan, for relatives who fall outside the family age rules.

General Information

Travelling abroad with your family can be a wonderful experience, but things can go wrong, from a sick child to a missed connection. Allianz family travel insurance lets you travel with peace of mind, knowing every listed family member is covered against the unexpected, under a single policy rather than several separate ones, making it quick and easier to manage.

Family travel insurance from Allianz starts from AED 140 for Schengen, AED 190 the Standard plan and AED 248 for the Premium plan. The exact cost depends on your destination, trip duration, and your choice of plan. Use the online quotation tool on this page to see your exact family premium in under a minute.

Family travel insurance bundles every eligible traveller, up to 2 adults and unlimited children, under one policy, one certificate, and one payment. Buying individual policies for each family member means separate paperwork, separate premiums, and no child discount. For most families travelling together, one family policy is simpler to manage and more cost effective than several individual ones.

Family travel insurance is designed for trips up to 90 days. The policy validity matches your stated travel dates, running from your departure date to your return date. If your trip is longer than 90 days, family travel insurance is not the right product, and you should contact Allianz directly to discuss alternatives.

Coverage & Benefits

Yes, medical coverage is a core part of every Allianz family travel insurance policy. The exact limit depends on the plan you choose, with $250,000 on Standard and $500,000 on Premium per insured person. Be sure to check the terms and conditions for the full limit of the plan you intend to purchase. This coverage addresses health related emergencies during your trip, including: • Emergency medical treatment, covering the cost of care if a family member falls ill or is injured • Medical evacuation, providing transport to the nearest adequate medical facility or back home if medically necessary Allianz family travel insurance is designed to give you comprehensive medical coverage for every listed family member, so your family's health is genuinely protected while abroad. All benefits are subjected to policy terms and conditions.

Yes. Family travel insurance includes cover if you need to cancel your trip before it begins because you, a travelling companion, someone you are due to stay with, or a relative becomes ill, is seriously injured, has an accident, or passes away. Cover is provided up to $3,000 on the Standard plan and $5,000 on the Premium plan. Specific conditions apply, so review the policy document for the full list of covered reasons.

Yes. Allianz family travel insurance meets the mandatory Schengen visa requirement of at least EUR 30,000 in emergency medical coverage. Once purchased, an official insurance certificate is emailed to you immediately and can be submitted with your Schengen visa application for every covered family member travelling to Europe.

Eligibility

Yes, within set limits. Allianz family travel insurance policies are limited to 10 travellers in total. Every traveller must be a UAE resident, and every adult included must be under 66 years old. Children have no limit on numbers and are covered at fixed family premium. You can check exactly who qualifies by running a free quotation before you commit to buying.

No, you cannot add family members once your policy has been issued. You must make sure every traveller, including all children, is included at the time you request your quote and complete your purchase. If a new family member needs cover after the fact, you would need to take out a separate policy for them.

Not under the family plan itself. Family travel insurance policies require every adult to be up to 65 years old. If a grandparent or older relative is travelling with you and is 66 or above, they will need a separate Senior Travel Insurance policy, which covers individuals up to 85 years old. Both policies can be purchased together so your whole travelling party is covered for the same trip.

Yes. Every traveller listed on a family travel insurance policy, whether adult or child, must be a UAE resident. This applies to the full travelling party. If a family member does not hold UAE residency, they cannot be included on this specific policy and would need to explore alternative cover suited to their residency.
