Full Protection on Every Round-Trip - From Medical Emergencies to Lost Luggage

When something goes wrong abroad, the costs can be devastating. A single day of hospitalisation in the United States averages $3,000–$10,000. An emergency evacuation from a remote destination can exceed $50,000. Lost luggage on a connection through Europe leaves you stranded without essentials. Allianz Single Trip Global Travel Insurance is built to cover every one of these scenarios.

This is not a bare-minimum policy - it is comprehensive trip protection covering everything from the moment you depart the UAE to the moment you return. Emergency medical care, trip cancellation due to unforeseen events, baggage protection, personal liability, and 24/7 emergency assistance are all included as standard.

The Two Risks Most UAE Travellers Consistently Underestimate:

  • Medical emergencies abroad: Your UAE health insurance does not cover you internationally. Every Dirham of medical treatment overseas is out-of-pocket without travel insurance. For US-bound travellers, the Premium plan's $500,000 medical cover exists specifically for this reason - US healthcare costs are among the highest in the world.
  • Non-refundable financial loss: Flights, hotels, tour packages booked months in advance become a total loss if a sudden illness, injury, or family emergency forces cancellation. Trip cancellation cover up to $5,000 (Premium) protects your travel investment before the trip even begins.

Both plans provide complete global coverage. The Premium plan increases limits on high-cost benefits - particularly medical expenses, trip cancellation, baggage, and personal liability - making it the recommended choice for high-cost destinations like the USA, Switzerland, and Japan.

Single trip travel insurance is the right choice for anyone taking one defined international journey with a clear departure date and return date. It covers trips from 1 day up to a maximum of 90 days in duration, and it is the most cost-effective option for travellers who take one or two international trips per year.

First-Time International Travellers

Heading abroad for the first time? Single trip travel insurance covers your specific journey - from emergency medical expenses to lost baggage - so your first international trip is protected from day one.

Business Travellers on One-Off Trips

Travelling for a specific conference, client meeting, or business deal? Single trip insurance covers your exact travel dates at a flat cost - no annual plan needed when one trip is all you have on the calendar.

Families Travelling Together

Cover the family under one policy. Max. 9 travellers per policy. One payment, one certificate, comprehensive protection for every member - including emergency medical, baggage, and trip cancellation.

If you travel three or more times per year, our Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance plan is likely more economical. It covers unlimited round-trips throughout the year under a single annual premium - compare both options using the quote tool above.

Your Allianz Single Trip Travel Insurance policy provides worldwide global coverage - valid for unlimited destinations per trip, with a maximum trip duration of up to 90 days. In the quote tool above, you can select up to 3 destinations, however since this is worldwide coverage, it doesn't matter whether you list all your stops or just one - you're covered regardless. Simply enter your travel dates from the day before you fly to the date you return to your home country, ensuring the total duration does not exceed 90 days. Whether you are flying to a single country or routing through multiple destinations, one policy covers your entire round-trip journey:

Europe/Schengen

Schengen visa-compliant. All 29 Schengen countries + UK covered. Official embassy-accepted certificate issued instantly.

USA & Americas

US hospital costs can exceed $3,000 per day. Our $500,000 Premium medical cover is built for high-cost destinations like the USA.

Asia

Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Philippines, India - single trip cover for every Asian destination from the UAE.

Global/Worldwide

Anywhere in the world. One policy covers your full itinerary, including multi-country routes for up to 90 days.

Destination-Specific Considerations for UAE Travellers:

  • 🇪🇺 Europe & Schengen: Single trip insurance is a legal requirement for Schengen visa applicants. Our Standard and Premium plans meet the €30,000 minimum medical requirement and issue an official, embassy-accepted Schengen certificate on purchase.
  • 🇺🇸 USA: US medical costs are the highest in the world. The Premium plan's USD $500,000 medical cover is strongly recommended for any US-bound traveller from the UAE. A standard hospitalisation in a US city can exhaust a $250,000 Standard plan limit.
  • 🇯🇵 Japan: Japan has recently introduced requirements for visitors to hold valid travel insurance. Our policy covers the full range of Japanese medical facilities and emergency services.
  • 🇬🇧 UK: Post-Brexit, UAE residents are not entitled to NHS treatment. Single trip travel insurance fully fills this gap for the duration of your UK visit.

The choice comes down to one question: how many international trips do you take per year? Here is a clear comparison to help you decide:

General Information

No - Allianz Single Trip Global Travel Insurance covers round-trips only. A 'single trip' means a journey with a defined start date and end date - the traveller departs and returns within the insured period. A one-way trip, where there is no return date, cannot be covered under a travel insurance policy because the duration of stay abroad would be unlimited, and all travel insurance policies have a maximum trip duration (90 days at Allianz). If you are relocating abroad permanently or for an extended period with no defined return, you would need a different type of coverage - such as an international health insurance policy - rather than travel insurance.

Single trip travel insurance from Allianz covers trips up to a maximum of 90 days in duration. The policy validity aligns exactly with your travel dates - you enter your departure and return dates when getting your quote, and coverage runs from start to end of those dates. If your trip would exceed 90 days, travel insurance is not the appropriate product. The maximum 90-day limit applies regardless of plan choice (Standard or Premium).

No - and this is one of the most important distinctions for UAE-based travellers to understand. Single trip travel insurance is a short-term policy that covers you for the specific duration of one international trip. It covers travel-specific risks: medical emergencies abroad, trip cancellation, baggage, delays, and personal liability. Your existing UAE health insurance (whether DHA, DOHC, or private) does not cover you internationally in most cases - single trip travel insurance fills that gap for the duration of your journey. International health insurance (or private medical insurance) is a separate, long-term product entirely. If you search for 'health insurance UAE', that is a different product from what this page covers.

Single trip travel insurance covers one specific journey with defined start and end dates. You purchase it once, it covers that trip, and it ends when you return. Annual multi-trip travel insurance covers unlimited round-trips over 12 months - without specifying dates - for a single annual premium. Single trip is more economical for one or two trips per year. Annual multi-trip is more economical for three or more trips per year and more convenient because you never need to buy insurance before each journey. Both plans are Schengen-compliant.

For any international trip from the UAE, yes - without exception. A single day of hospitalisation in a US hospital averages USD $3,000–$10,000. Emergency medical evacuation from a remote location can exceed USD $50,000. Non-refundable flights and hotels cancelled at the last minute due to illness can mean losses of AED 5,000–15,000 or more. Against these risks, a single trip policy starting from AED 76 is negligible. The question is not whether it is worth it - the question is which plan (Standard or Premium) matches your destination.

Coverage & Benefits

Allianz Single Trip Global Travel Insurance covers:

  • Emergency medical expenses (up to $250,000 Standard / $500,000 Premium)
  • Emergency medical evacuation and repatriation to home country
  • Repatriation of mortal remains
  • Return of dependent children (under 18) if you are hospitalised for more than 24 hours
  • Emergency family travel - a close relative flown to your bedside if hospitalised
  • Emergency dental treatment to relieve sudden pain ($100 / $300)
  • Search and rescue ($1,000 on both plans)
  • Trip cancellation for covered reasons ($3,000 Standard / $5,000 Premium)
  • Trip curtailment - cutting a trip short due to covered emergency ($3,000 / $5,000)
  • Delayed departure cover after 4 hours delay ($200 / $300)
  • Baggage loss ($1,000 / $2,000)
  • Baggage delay - essential items if bags delayed over 24 hours ($200 / $300)
  • Valuables including laptops ($400 / $500)
  • Personal liability ($250,000 / $500,000)

All coverage is valid for the full duration of your round-trip, up to a maximum of 90 days. All benefits are subjected to policy terms and conditions.

Yes. Allianz Single Trip Global Travel Insurance is Schengen visa-compliant, meaning it meets the EU's mandatory requirement of a minimum €30,000 in emergency medical coverage for Schengen visa applications. Both the Standard and Premium plans satisfy this requirement. When you purchase, an official Schengen insurance certificate is generated and emailed to you immediately - the exact document required for submission with your visa application at any European embassy or consulate in the UAE.

There is an important distinction to understand here. Trip cancellation cover pays out when you have to cancel your entire trip before it begins due to a covered reason - such as sudden illness, serious injury, bereavement of a close relative, or a natural disaster affecting your destination. It does not automatically cover a flight cancellation initiated by the airline. If your airline cancels a flight, your first step is to seek a refund or rebooking from the airline directly under passenger rights. If you incur non-refundable losses because you are forced to cancel for a covered personal reason, your Allianz trip cancellation benefit applies. Always review the full list of covered cancellation reasons in the policy document.

Standard single trip travel insurance does not cover injuries sustained during hazardous or extreme activities - including skiing, skydiving, scuba diving, mountain climbing, bungee jumping, and motor racing. If your trip includes any such activities, you need to add our optional Hazardous Activities Cover to your policy at the time of purchase. Without this add-on, claims arising from these activities will not be paid - even if the underlying medical emergency would otherwise be covered. Check the Hazardous Activities Cover page for the full list of activities included.

Eligibility & Purchase

Allianz Single Trip Global Travel Insurance is available to UAE residents - both UAE nationals and expatriates holding valid UAE residency visas. We cover travellers up to 85 years old. The trip must originate from the UAE, and the policy must be purchased before departure. If you are outside the UAE at the time of purchase, please contact us directly.

Yes. Allianz offers family travel insurance plans that cover you, your spouse or partner, and your dependent children under a single policy. A family single-trip plan is significantly more cost-effective than purchasing individual annual policies for each family member. Family set prices include 2 adults with unlimited number of children therefore it is by far the most economical solution. When adding 3 or more travellers, simply select are you a family toggle and unlock family-friendly prices.

No. Allianz single trip travel insurance must be purchased before your trip departs. Coverage cannot be purchased retrospectively for a journey that has already begun, and it cannot be added to a trip that is already in progress. Always purchase before leaving the UAE - ideally at the same time you book your flights. Buying early also activates your trip cancellation cover immediately, protecting you against pre-departure losses from the date of purchase.
